A WORD ABOUT FELLOWSHIP
When I talk about fellowship, I am talking about a time when friends, brothers are talking about the things of the Lord. It is a time when brothers in the Lord build each other up, encourage and strengthen their relationship towards one another.
They speak into each others life, by life. That Life is formed in you by abiding in Christ, and walking with Christ in obedience.
With in fellowship this life of Christ is past by the Spirit of the living God from brother to brother, brother to sister. It is not by preaching or teaching, but it is by a love that flows out of ones life into another.
Truth, love, wisdom and knowledge are communicated by the Spirit in ways that can not be done without fellowship with one another.
Street preachers are like minded, they understand the ministries that God has called them, they understand the life of Holiness, a life of the Spirit of God leading them each day in life.
This fellowship is communicated in ways you can not get in Church, or even on the street corner preaching. This kind of fellowship were life is lived among each other in all the decisions, attitudes, and life lived in the Holy Spirit is imparted when you do not even know it is being done.
God has a way much deeper to impart truth from life lived in fellowship. Fellowship allows freedom to flow in thought about all the arenas of life. Words are said in communicating one to another that came out just for that moment.
The Holy Spirit gave revelation in the discussion while brothers were sharing. It is spontaneous and is only during true fellowship. I love when this happens and there is insight, wisdom, true conviction, there is a change that takes place in the relationship between the brothers and they are become closer to one another.
True love was imparted by the Holy Spirit in the fellowship. There was a unity, a trust, a love built between the brothers or even a group.
There is no planed sermon or teaching in fellowship. There is no agenda in fellowship. Fellowship are brothers that hang out with each other around the cross of Christ and Christ gives the wisdom, truth, understanding, discernment, love, mercy, kindness or what ever is needed for the moment and that builds the brothers together in life.
It happens supernaturally. There is insight given and brothers become united in love for one another. This is what I love most about street preaching with other brothers. The growing together in the Spirit. It is Spiritual and you don’t know that it is happening most of the time in fellowship. You leave after spending time with brothers after a week of fellowship and preaching and you have been refreshed and something has changed in you.
You love Jesus more, you want to read the Bible more, you want to memorize scriptures more, you want to walk with Christ more because the fellowship of the brethren changed you.
You have been changed by the Spirit of the living God and it happened in fellowship.
Things were taking place with in your life by the life of others. Sometimes you know it and sometimes you will know it later, but I know for sure it is taking place that you are being changed by the power of God in fellowship with the brethren.
You can know a lot about Christians in fellowship, weather that is at church or having a meal with them. Every one is at different levels in the life of Christ. I love to be around life, a real Christian who carries the life of Christ. It flows out of him and leaves an in pack on were ever this life goes.
I hope you don’t go to a street preach and hang out with your best friend and not fellowship with those you do not know. Older Christian who are street preacher and have preach on the street for a long time should share there life with the younger. It makes me said to see older street preachers preach just with there piers, when the young preachers are the ones who need the fellowship.
I hope street preaching dose not turn out like the modern church when you can never fellowship with the Pastor because he is with his piers.
Fellowship is the only way to impart life really life true life a Spirit filled life when just being you can change another’s life.
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES
How many of you have enemies? Can you describe an enemy you have to me? Maybe he is the one who hates you and is hostel toward you? Or may be the one who says bad things about you wanting to see you fall or get hurt?
To me the worst kinds of enemies I have are those who are around me and they are hard to recognize at fist until the Lord reveals them to me. Your enemies can be your neighbors, your colleagues, or people in the church. Often my enemies try to come around me to see what I am doing hoping I would fall.
Yes, street preachers have a lot of enemies. They have more enemies then average Christians do. If you preach the truth in love you will have many enemies, which will surround you.
God has told us and has showed us how to love our enemies and we are to follow His example on the cross. I would like to encourage you with some practical application of loving your enemies that God is teaching me in my preaching and in my life. We all live with enemies around us.
The Lord brought this Bible verse to my mind in Matt 5:44 during a confrontation with my enemy. The Holy Spirit taught me – I don’t want you to miss the Reward. I believe the Bible speaks a lot about rewards and Christ is my exceedingly great reward. The Lord has shown me that my reward of having more of Him could be greater if I would only love my enemies.
Mat 5:44-46 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same?
I don’t have the love the verse is talking about; I need that kind of love. I am talking to you about it because we need to pray for this kind of love. This love only comes by being filled with the Holy Spirit, because God is love and God has given himself in the person of the Holy Spirit that we might have the supernatural ability to love our enemies.
I desire the Reward, I want more of Christ, I want to please God, I want to show Him my love, I want to change as He is showing me the areas I need to change in. I want to be the best preacher, the best example, the best disciple, the best son, I want to grow and change from Glory to Glory. I desire to love my enemies, as Christ loved me when I was His enemy.
I do not want to preach the same way as I preached yesterday; I need the power of the Holy Spirit to respond in love to my enemies, because my enemies surround me. How do I bless them that curse me?
The word “ bless”
defines, “to bless one, to praise, celebrate with praises.” The exhortation is to bless our persecutors in the sense of returning kindness and love to those who mistreat us because of our testimony to the Lord Jesus. It is “to speak them good” (eulogeō). Paul uses the same word in Ephesians 1:3 when referring to God “who hath blessed us.” The verb is present imperative which commands a habitual action, “Be constantly blessing.”
Jesus told us to bless our enemies, to return kindness and love to those who mistreat us or say harsh words to us. I like to rebuke those who say bad things to me. I like to tell them that they will burn in HELL. I can get a hasty temper, get irritated responding in harshness and a severe rebuke. God wants me to have a calm temper, of humility that turns into gentleness, a blessing so that I might receive the Reward.
Luke 6:27,28 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
This is my desire and I pray that my response to my enemies would be a blessing on them and that I would pray for them. This is how Christ would have responded to those who said bad things about Him.
1Peter 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
This is how I want to responded to my enemies, weather that is on the street preaching or in the Church, being cornered by wolfs in sheep clothing. I will confess to you, I can not do this with out being filled with the Holy Spirit. I want to bless my enemies I need the Holy Spirit.
Rom 12:20,21 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
In the past I have been overcome by evil and have said things to people I regret and would love to apologize. I am thankful to my Savior for His forgiveness and His faithfulness to change me into His image. His mercy endures forever! By His gentleness He has made me great!
I would encourage all street preachers to leave the vengeance to God, for He will repay in a much better and infinitely wiser way, then us having the last word.
Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
Deu 7:10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
Deu 32:41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
You would think that I would have leaned this lesson after all that I have been through in preaching out on the streets, but I thank the Lord Christ my Savior that He has not let me go and did not give up on me, He was faithful to teach me and patient with me.
I hope we will bear with one another until Christ is formed in us.
I want to be teachable and lead by the Spirit of the living God. I don’t want to miss the Blessing. I have been called to inherit a Blessing.
1Pe 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Let us be like Christ and Paul that when they were reviled they blessed.
1Co 4:12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
Hope to get to preach with you on the streets, God Bless, Kevin
